If you love learning about places around the world, planning holidays and learning about culture this subject is definitely the one for you! This qualification provides an engaging introduction to the world of travel and tourism, giving students the opportunity to develop knowledge and technical skills in a practical learning environment.

There are 3 compulsory units covering the knowledge and practical skills required to work in the industry:

● The UK travel and tourism sector

● UK travel and tourism destinations

●The travel and tourism customer experience.

Students will build on the knowledge gained in the three mandatory units by choosing one further unit from two optional units. These are:

● International travel and tourism destinations

● Factors affecting worldwide travel and tourism.

What Skills Will I Develop?

Key skills such as research, report drafting and writing skills, presentation and project management. All key skills needed to help you in any job you seek!

How Will I Be Assessed?

The course is made up mostly of assignments that require you to produce reports and evidence that can include travel itineraries, presentations, holiday brochures, website pages and much more.

Your teacher will assess and mark these and give feedback as to how you are getting on.

Please be aware that 25% of your marks is from an exam unit, which is different to some BTEC courses:

Unit 1: The UK Travel and Tourism Sector This test includes multiple-choice and open-ended-response questions based on the main types of tourism in the UK and the different component industries that make up the UK travel and tourism sector.

Unit 1 is worth 25% of the total marks.
