What Will I Study?

Students learn in detail about the Music Industry and how it functions. Students will develop valuable skills and techniques in music creation, performance and production. Students explore potential careers in the Music industry and have the option to focus their course on specific areas of interest.  Students will study four components of work.

  1. Unit 1 Exploring The Music Industry

Students will explore how the music industry works and gain an understanding of roles in the industry. Students will learn about the different roles within the music industry & investigate relationships between different areas of the music industry

  1. Unit 2 Creating a Musical product

Students will create a musical product and learn how to promote and sell it effectively.

Students will work collaboratively to create a musical product and apply skills and techniques in music performance, creation, production and marketing.

      3. Unit 5 Music performance

Students will put their skills into practice by responding to a brief as a music performer. They will develop music performance skills and perform music to an audience.

  1. Unit 7 Sequencing

Students will use technology to create a piece of multi tracked music and develop music technology and composition skills.

How Will I Be Assessed?

Unit 1 – will be externally assessed by a written exam of 1 hour and is 25% of the total marks.

Unit 2, 5 & 7 will be assessed by coursework, internally assessed and each unit is worth 25% of the total marks.
