Pastoral Support

It is important that students at North Leamington Sixth Form are supported pastorally, as happy and healthy individuals are more likely to thrive and achieve their goals.

The tutor system in Sixth Form allows for a supportive, nurturing environment, where tutors get to know the students in their groups, offering individual tailored support with their wellbeing. This is supported with the tutor time curriculum, which covers a variety of topics and life skills, including boosting positive mental health & wellbeing, and giving students tools and strategies to cope with an ever-changing environment.

The role of the Attendance, Study Support and Welfare Officer is to complement all the work done by the Tutor Team, other internal providers, peers and parents. Specifically, the post-holder works with nominated students wherever a referral need is identified. These referrals can come about from multiple sources. For example:

  • Student self-referral
  • Parental referral
  • Staff referral - normally arising from either data or observations of wellbeing
