Year 11 routes and pathways

Year 11 is a key year for completing the all-important GCSE exams but also a time when key decisions are made relating to future study and training opportunities.

All Year 11 students will have an appointment with the School Careers Advisor. Students can also book their own careers appointment by emailing careers@northleamington.co.uk.

Remember it is a legal requirement to stay in education or training until the age of 18 years.

Post-16 Options

There are three main choices post-16 and Year 11 students will learn about all of these during their time at North Leamington School.

A Levels

Studying for A Levels at a school Sixth Form or College. A clear academic route for those who wish to study 3 subjects in depth for 2 years. There are clear high entry requirements for these and they can lead on to University study or Higher and Degree apprenticeships.

College

College courses are usually more vocational and can be studied at levels 1-3. Colleges also offer a range of BTEC qualifications which are the equivalent to 3 A levels. College can also lead to university and higher apprenticeships

Apprenticeships

An Apprenticeship is essentially going straight to work for an employer with a salary. Training will be provided through College or training provider on block or day release. Intermediate, Advanced, Higher and Degree apprenticeships are available.
