Year 11 Update - Summer 1

As we approach the end of Year 11’s journey at NLS, I honestly cannot believe that the time has come for me to say goodbye to such a remarkable group of young people.
Being the first horizontal year group to arrive at NLS with a dedicated Head of Year has been an absolute privilege, and to have watched this cohort grow, mature and become so successful over the past five years has made me immensely proud. From their very first days with us to now preparing to sit their GCSE examinations, they have consistently demonstrated resilience, humour, kindness and determination.
I have had the pleasure of meeting the vast majority of you throughout these five years, and I can genuinely say that you are the very best parents and carers I could ever have hoped to work alongside. Your unwavering support, understanding and encouragement have been greatly appreciated every step of the way. Even during the most challenging moments, you have always approached conversations with respect, positivity and a shared commitment to ensuring the very best for your child. That partnership has meant a great deal to me personally, and I truly could not have done this job without you.
Your children have represented NLS in the very best way possible. They are mature, respectful, hardworking and caring young people who should be incredibly proud of themselves. The qualities and values they possess are a true reflection of the support, guidance and care that you have instilled in them from an early age. Of course, as with any journey, there have been challenges along the way, but we have faced them together — as a team — and I believe that has made this cohort even stronger.
Watching them grow into the young adults they are today has been one of the proudest experiences of my career. They have achieved so much already, and I have absolutely no doubt that they all have bright and successful futures ahead of them.
Although it is emotional to think that our time together is coming to an end, there is still so much to look forward to — Celebration Assembly, Prom and, of course, the remaining GCSE examinations themselves.
Bring on the GCSEs… THEY HAVE GOT THIS!
Celebration Day – Monday 6 July
Once the exam season concludes, we look forward to Celebration Day on Monday 6 July for the majority of students. This special occasion includes activities in school during the day and the Prom in the evening—both memorable events that mark the end of an important chapter in students’ lives. Invited students will have the opportunity to sign shirts, spend time with their peers and staff who have supported them throughout their journey, and collect their NLS Hoodie and Yearbook, if these have been pre-ordered.
Students who are invited should arrive at 10:30am, and the day will conclude at approximately 12:15pm.
Year 11 Prom
Tickets are available to purchase on ParentPay (www.parentpay.com) for any invited student who wishes to attend the Year 11 Prom, taking place at Chesford Grange on Monday 6 July. Tickets are priced at £45 and can be purchased until Friday 5 June 2026. The event will begin at 7:00pm.
Consent for your child to attend the Prom must be provided via ParentPay, where you will also be asked to supply emergency contact details, medical information, and any dietary or allergy requirements. We have chosen a buffet menu for the evening, so it is essential that you share any dietary needs when completing the details on ParentPay. Suitable vegetarian and vegan options will be available, and all dietary information will be clearly displayed on the night.
If we have any concerns regarding a student’s behaviour, either prior to or after signing up for the Prom, the student may be withdrawn from the event. In such cases, individual parents will be notified directly.
GCSE Results Day
As detailed n my letter last week, GCSE results will be available for collection on Thursday 20 August 2026 between 9:00am and 10:00am. Students must collect their own results in person. For those unable to attend, results will be emailed to their school email address later that day.
Members of staff will be available to celebrate with students and provide support for any post-results queries.
On results day, we will also be enrolling students into the Sixth Form. Further information regarding this will be sent by the Sixth Form Team in due course.
Exam certificates typically arrive at school in December and will be handed to students who join the Sixth Form, or posted to the address we have on file. If you move address before December 2026, please inform us at exams@northleamington.co.uk to ensure your certificates are sent to the correct address.
Student Locker Reminders
Students who have been assigned a locker should ensure it is emptied and the key returned to Student Services as soon as possible. Any lockers that are not emptied before the summer holidays will be cleared to make them ready for our new Year 7 students. If a student has lost their key, they should inform Student Services as soon as possible.
Uniform Donations
We would greatly appreciate any donations of good quality NLS uniform and games kit that Year 11 students no longer require. These items will help support younger students who may need to borrow them in the future. Typically, students donate their items on the Celebration Day on Monday 6 July, when students no longer require their NLS uniform, but reception staff will be available to receive donations of good quality, clean items at any time.
Online Safety Newsletters
The May online safety newsletter has been added to the website – in the Safeguarding Tab, then Online Safety May Online Safety Newsletter and includes useful information on Groupchats, Roblox, Gaming and Gambling. The June Online Safety Newsletter covers information on scams, digital footprints, privacy settings and app safety.
New Year 12 Induction Day – Thursday 9 July
All Year 11 students who have applied to join the Sixth Form should have received a conditional offer via email. The Sixth Form Induction morning is on Thursday 9 July, when students will have the opportunity to meet the Sixth Form Team and their prospective peers, participate in taster lessons and team-building activities, and explore the dedicated Sixth Form areas.
We will send more details closer to the event and look forward to welcoming students on the day. We are excited for those joining in September 2026 and are committed to supporting them through their final two years of study, as well as helping them prepare for their future beyond NLS.
While students are now officially on study leave, please do not hesitate to contact me or any of your child’s teachers if there is anything further we can do to support them.
Thank you once again for your continued support over the last five years. It has truly been an honour to work with both you and your children.
I wish all parents, carers, and students a well-deserved and enjoyable half-term break.
Mr Royle | Head of Year 11
