Year 11 Update - Spring 2

As we approach the end of another busy and productive term, it is an ideal time to recognise the hard work and commitment shown by our Year 11 students. They have approached this crucial stage of their education with focus and determination, preparing thoroughly for their final GCSE examinations.
Throughout the term, students have demonstrated excellent engagement in lessons and have made the most of additional revision opportunities after school. Their positive attitude, resilience, and growing maturity have been particularly evident during this demanding period.
Now that mock examinations have concluded and the recent Subject Evening has taken place, students have a clearer picture of their progress so far, as well as the areas they need to prioritise moving forward.
It was a pleasure to welcome so many parents and carers to the Subject Evening on Monday . We hope the discussions were helpful in supporting your child’s preparation and next steps.
To continue supporting revision, after-school sessions remain available from 3:20–4:00pm

Tutor Time
During tutor sessions this term, students have been working through DTTR (Diagnose, Reflect, Review, Therapy) activities, designed to provide targeted support across subjects.
Students have also spent time analysing their Data 2 results, identifying strengths and setting clear goals for improvement. In addition, students participated in their Year 11 College photographs, which will appear in the Leavers’ Yearbook.
A number of assemblies have also taken place, covering key exam guidance as well as information about post-16 pathways, including Sixth Form.

Following the Easter break, further information will be shared regarding Celebration Day and arrangements for the Year 11 Prom, including ticket details.
Study Leave Arrangements
As advised in our last letter, study leave will begin on Thursday 14 May, after the morning Maths exam. Students who have a German exam in the afternoon will remain on-site for a revision lesson during Period 3 with their German teacher.
From this date onwards, students may choose to revise at home. However, they are still welcome to attend school for support in their timetabled lessons until each subject exam has been completed. The library will also be open as a quiet study space for those who would benefit from working on-site.
Sixth Form Applications
It has been fantastic to see a strong number of applications from Year 11 students wishing to continue into Sixth Form. Interviews were held during the final two weeks of term, and feedback from staff highlighted how well students presented themselves throughout the process. Following interviews, students have received emails today outlining conditional offers, along with details of the induction day planned for July.
Celebrating Success
At the beginning of next term, I will be recognising student achievements through a range of reward events.
The 30 students with the highest reward points were invited to a special celebration, where they enjoyed freshly baked cupcakes together.
In our end-of-term assembly, certificates will be awarded to students for their achievements between Data 1 (December) and Data 2 (March).
Awards will presented across three categories within each College:
- Achievement – progress made against personal targets
- Attainment – highest average points
- Reward Points – overall positive contributions
