Year 10 Update - Autumn 2

We have been incredibly impressed with how positively Year 10 have begun their GCSE years. Students have continued this term with maturity, ambition, and a clear determination to succeed. Their focus in lessons, willingness to participate, and commitment to their studies have set a very strong foundation for the year ahead. We are exceptionally proud of the positive attitude they continue to show each day.

A particular highlight this term has been the successful completion of their first subject assessments. Students approached these with real dedication—attending after-school support sessions, producing detailed revision materials, and seeking timely feedback from their teachers. Their hard work is already paying off, and we are excited to see this momentum continue.  You’ll have seen the data sheets available on Go4Schools.

Across the term, Year 10 continued to demonstrate our CORE values—Commitment, Opportunity, Respect, and Excellence—through their attitude to learning, behaviour around school, and the example they set for younger students. It is a privilege to work with such a motivated and supportive year group.

Remembrance Day Service

Year 10 joined the entire school community for our Remembrance Day service, held in the courtyard. This was an extremely moving and respectful event, with students demonstrating real maturity and reflection as we honoured those who have served and sacrificed. The calm, united atmosphere created by our young people made the occasion particularly poignant.

Odd-Socks Day – Anti-Bullying Week

two students in odd socksAs part of Anti-Bullying Week, Year 10 embraced Odd-Socks Day with enthusiasm and humour. The turnout of wonderfully mismatched and truly dodgy socks was fantastic, helping to spread the message of Power for Good and standing together against bullying. It was uplifting to see students using a simple act to express such an important message.

Winter Music Concert

The Winter Music Concert provided a wonderful opportunity to showcase the exceptional musical talent within our school. Year 10 students played a major role in an evening filled with impressive performances, teamwork, and creativity. Their confidence and skill shone on stage, and it was a joy to see so many of our young people share their passion for music with families, staff, and the wider community.

Christmas Hamper Appeal

This year, Year 10 students have once again shown exceptional generosity by creating hampers for families and individuals in need within our community. Each tutor group carefully selected a charity or local cause to support and worked collaboratively to gather items and assemble their hamper. Their kindness, empathy, and sense of social responsibility shine through in projects like this, and we are incredibly proud of the difference they are making to others.

Festive Jumper Day

Year 10 were out in full festive colour as they took part in our Christmas Jumper Day to support Save the Children. The creativity and enthusiasm shown brought real joy to the school, and the donations made by students will contribute to a significant whole-school fundraising total. A huge thank you to all who took part.

Tutor Curriculum

This half term, tutor groups have taken part in a range of activities and competitions—most notably the whole-school attendance challenge. Congratulations to Park, who secured the top spot, with outstanding efforts from 10PK01 and 10PK02.

Tutor groups have also produced excellent noticeboards that showcase not only our CORE values but also personalised contributions from students, including hobbies, achievements, favourite subjects, and celebratory milestones. These displays help to strengthen tutor identity and build a sense of belonging.

Curriculum themes this term have included: Anti-bullying and positive relationships.  Careers education.  Digital literacy and online safety,  International Schools project and global awareness

We also held our first College Fortnight of the academic year, during which all students from Year 7–13 attended a College assembly reinforcing our college ethos, celebrating successes, and focusing on key improvement areas such as attendance and participation.

Rewards and Achievements

We are delighted to celebrate another outstanding term of achievements for Year 10. As a year group, they have earned an exceptional number of reward points—one of the highest totals at this point in the academic year. This is a clear reflection of their continued hard work, effort, and excellent conduct in lessons and around school.

The majority of R2s awarded this term have been for Excellence, highlighting how consistently our students uphold our world-class basics: strong behaviour, active engagement, and respect for learning.

We are also proud to share that Year 10 have maintained one of the lowest consequence rates across the school. This is a testament to their maturity, responsibility, and positive attitude.

For students who would benefit from additional support, please remember our school library is open until 5pm Monday–Thursday, with access to computers, a quiet workspace, and help from a Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent resource to support home learning and revision.
