Drama Update- Spring 1

Year 7 & Year 8 Drama

Students in KS3 are following a programme of learning that explores an introduction to Drama.  Year 7 Drama students are currently exploring Northwood Hall and the House of Secrets. Year 8 Drama students are exploring the play DNA by Dennis Kelly and considering how they could interpret the characters through the performer skills. They will also explore the play from the perspective of a designer.

 

 

VIBE Drama Club Tuesday after school (Drama Rooms C030 C034)

Vibe Drama Club has moved to Tuesdays after school so we can also support GCSE Drama rehearsals this term.

Vibe Drama Club is open to all Y7 and Y8 students and is led by the Y9 and Y10 Drama Leaders. Both Year 7 and Year 8 are exploring scripts and creating short performances this half term.

2022 – Pre-release materials for the GCSE Drama Component 3 Exam:

The exam board have announced this week that for Section A The Crucible the extract will be taken from Act 2 P57-66. Year 11 should focus on this extract when they are revising Section A.

 

Year 9 GCSE Drama

Students are currently working on their Designer portfolios linked to their devised performance based on The Island by Armin Greder. They will be exploring the four Design pathways – Costume, Set, Lighting and Sound Design to create a designer portfolio.

 

Year 10 GCSE Drama

Students are continuing to work towards their NEA Devised Performance that is worth 40% of their final GCSE grade in the Summer Term. Topics chosen this year range from the story of Sarah Everard, Audrey Hepburn and Malala Yousafzai.  Students will be performing their assessed performances in March.

Year 11 GCSE Drama

Students are currently working on their Component 2 Performances. Students have chosen a Performer or Designer pathway. Each student has chosen a monologue or duologue to perform and designers have chosen their design pathways (Costume, Set, Lighting or Sound) Performers are working on learning their lines and Designers are completing their Design Portfolios. Students will be performing their assessed performances in March.
