Hazel (Year 12) has had work exhibited at the Lowry!

We’re delighted to share this success, – evidence again of the excellence our students achieve both inside and outside of NLS.

Hazel’s project was inspired by Lowry’s painting The Cripples and Hazel recognises him ‘showing the truth of society’ and encouraging viewers to review ‘their treatment of others seen as different’. Inspired herself by family experiences of Down’s Syndrome, Hazel says: ‘Down’s Syndrome does not define…personality does…which is why I created this piece…to challenge people’s notions’.

As part of a highly competitive process, Hazel’s work was selected for its depth and quality – being chosen ahead of other talented young applicants.

A terrific sentiment in a great work of art within a brilliant setting!
