Year 12 and 13 Careers Fair

On Tuesday 29 September, our Year 12 and Year 13 students enjoyed a fantastic post-18 careers event at NLS arranged by Mrs O’Donnell our Careers Co-ordinator and Mrs Barley-Morey our CEIAG lead.

With over thirty stands we welcomed representatives from local and national companies across a broad range of sectors including: energy, digital, engineering, finance, veterinary and construction as well as Warwickshire District and County Councils.

Ten universities including Warwick, Lancaster Leeds and Oxford Brookes also joined us alongside representatives from the armed forces and Warwickshire Police.

The event offered our students direct access to employers, higher education and training providers helping them to explore the range of opportunities available and help plan their next steps. Students were able to speak with providers in small groups, ask questions and gain valuable insights into different career pathways and post-18 options.

The feedback from our students was really positive, with many highlighting how useful it was to be able to explore opportunities:

  • “Many providers were available and offered an amazing insight into options.”
  • “I was able to talk to a range of providers allowing me to see the opportunities available outside going to university.”
  •  " I enjoyed speaking to some employers I wouldn’t have thought about speaking to/being interested in before. “
  • “Talking in depth about all the different careers was great. Everyone was very friendly and informative.”
  • “I enjoyed learning about the different courses and universities.”

The event has helped our students to broaden their horizons and will support them in making informed decisions about their future education, training and career pathways.

We are extremely grateful to all the organisations and individuals who supported the event, giving their time, expertise and enthusiasm to provide our students with inspiring insights into the wide range of opportunities available to them beyond sixth form.
