Year 11 Update - Summer 2

As I write my final newsletter to you as Head of Year 11, I find it incredibly difficult to believe that our journey together has come to an end.

Five years ago, your children walked through the doors of North Leamington School as nervous Year 7 students, full of excitement, curiosity and perhaps a little uncertainty about what lay ahead. Since then, I have had the absolute privilege of watching them grow into the remarkable young adults they are today.

To have been your child's Head of Year throughout their entire secondary school journey has been one of the greatest honours of my career. I have watched them overcome challenges, celebrate successes, discover their passions and develop into confident, resilient and compassionate young people. They have made me laugh, made me proud and, on countless occasions, reminded me why I chose to work in education.

We have celebrated sporting successes, performances, charity events, leadership opportunities, significant number of trips and countless achievements inside and outside the classroom. Through every high and every challenge, this year group has continued to demonstrate resilience, kindness and an unwavering sense of community.

I would also like to thank you, our parents and carers. Your encouragement, trust and unwavering support over the last five years have been invaluable. Education is most successful when school and home work together, and I have always appreciated the partnership we have shared in supporting your children to become the very best versions of themselves.

Celebration Evening

One of the highlights of our Year 11 Celebration Evening was recognising a number of truly exceptional students who have consistently embodied our CORE values throughout their five years at North Leamington School.

Students wear school uniforms, with three boys in blazers and ties and one girl in a black dress, highlighting an awards or recognition event.I had the absolute privilege of presenting the Head of Year Award to Chloe P, Noah T, Evie P and Arun J.

These four students have been nothing short of fantastic since they joined us in Year 7. They have consistently demonstrated kindness, resilience, integrity and a commitment to excellence, serving as outstanding role models within our school community.

It has been a pleasure to watch them grow into such remarkable young adults, and they thoroughly deserved this special recognition.

A huge congratulations also goes to Hei L, who received the Achievement Award in recognition of his outstanding dedication, perseverance and academic success throughout his time at North Leamington School.

Ben P was presented with the Award for Overcoming Adversity, a highly respected and hardworking student whose strength and resilience have been truly inspirational.

Evie has consistently demonstrated exceptional compassion, leadership and commitment to making our school community a better place.

She truly embodies everything we hope our students will become.

I could not have been prouder of all of these students. They have represented Year 11 with distinction and have left a lasting legacy for future year groups to aspire to. They should all be incredibly proud of everything they have achieved.

Celebration Day

What an unforgettable way to celebrate five incredible years together.

Our Celebration Day was everything I had hoped it would be. Watching students spend time signing shirts, reminiscing with friends and creating one final set of memories together was incredibly special. The atmosphere throughout the day perfectly reflected the friendships, laughter and shared experiences that have defined this wonderful year group.

Photograph of nine girls standing in a row facing away, wearing personalised white shirts with names and designs on backs, paired with black shorts or skirts. Shirts feature various colours and fonts, including names like "Chloe," "Ava," and "Ellie," with some shirts displaying additional symbols such as stars and logos. Photograph of three young people in a gymnasium signing each other's white shirts with coloured markers, indicating a celebratory or farewell event. The shirts feature handwritten messages and drawings, with a focus on social interaction and commemorating a shared experience.

Our Leavers' Assembly was filled with pride, laughter and more than a few emotional moments. It gave us the opportunity to celebrate not only academic achievements but also the character, resilience and personalities that have made this cohort so unique. Hearing our talented musicians perform and reflecting on the memories we have created together over the past five years made it an occasion I will never forget.

The celebrations continued into the evening with what was a truly spectacular Prom at Chesford Grange.

Seeing students arrive looking so smart, confident and happy was an incredibly proud moment. Throughout the evening they danced, laughed and celebrated together, creating memories that I know will stay with them for many years to come. It was the perfect ending to an unforgettable chapter.

A Year Group to Remember

Every year group is different. Some are remembered for their sporting achievements, some for their academic success, others for their creativity or leadership. This year group will be remembered for something much more important; they will be remembered for the people they have become.

Over the last five years I have seen extraordinary acts of kindness, compassion and resilience, watched students support friends through difficult times, celebrate one another's successes and consistently demonstrate the values that make North Leamington School such a special place.

They have represented the school with pride through music, drama, sport, Duke of Edinburgh, leadership opportunities, charity work and so much more.

Each and every student has contributed something unique to our school community, and I genuinely believe the future is incredibly bright for this remarkable group of young people.

GCSE Results Day – Thursday 20 August

Collection Time: 9.00am – 10.00am

Students can collect their results from school during this time. If they are unable to attend, results will be emailed to their school email account later that day.

Members of staff will be available throughout the morning to celebrate successes, offer advice and support students with Sixth Form enrolment or any questions regarding their next steps.

Whatever those results may be, I hope every student remembers just how much hard work, determination and perseverance they have shown over the last two years. They have already achieved so much simply by reaching this point.

To every parent and carer...Thank you.

Thank you for trusting me with your children for the last five years.

Thank you for every conversation, every email, every word of encouragement and every opportunity to work together in supporting them.

Being a Head of Year is about so much more than attendance, behaviour or academic progress. It is about building relationships, celebrating successes, supporting students through difficult moments and helping them become confident young adults.

I hope I have done that.

One Final Message

To my incredible Year 11s...Thank you. Thank you for five unforgettable years. Thank you for your laughter, your honesty, your resilience and your ability to make every single day different. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey.

I have always believed in every single one of you, even during the moments when you perhaps didn't believe in yourselves.

As you leave North Leamington School, remember that your GCSE results do not define who you are. Your kindness, your integrity, your determination and the way you treat other people will always matter more.

  • Be brave enough to take opportunities.
  • Work hard.
  • Be kind.
  • Look after one another.
  • And never stop believing that you can achieve extraordinary things.

I cannot wait to see you all again on Results Day, celebrate your successes and hear about the exciting adventures that await you.

You will always be part of the North Leamington School family, and you will always hold a very special place in mine.

Have a wonderful summer.

With enormous pride and gratitude,

Mr Royle
