Year 7 enjoy their first residential opportunity at Whitemoor Lakes

The recent Year 7 residential visit to Whitemoor Lakes during the weekend of April 24 was a resounding success. Students represented the school with impeccable behaviour throughout. Staff were incredibly proud of how positively students conducted themselves, demonstrating maturity, respect, and enthusiasm in all aspects of the trip.

We were also fortunate to enjoy excellent weather, with plenty of sunshine across the visit. The bright, warm conditions added to the overall experience and helped create a positive and energetic atmosphere for both activities and downtime.

Activities such as abseiling, the zip wire, and the vertical Gladiator course pushed students well beyond their comfort zones, and it was fantastic to witness their resilience and determination.

Alongside this, a wide range of problem-solving tasks encouraged the development of teamwork, communication, and social skills, with students supporting and motivating one another to succeed.

Equally pleasing was the way students used their downtime. Students fully embraced the opportunity to socialise face-to-face, enjoying games such as pool, table tennis, Connect 4, card games, and chess. This created a genuinely positive and inclusive environment, where friendships were strengthened and new connections were formed, and where students were fully present in the moment.

Mealtimes were characterised by a warm and friendly atmosphere, with students demonstrating excellent manners and enjoying time together. Evening activities, particularly the campfire, were a highlight of the trip. Students enthusiastically participated in singing and group challenges, contributing to a memorable and uplifting experience for all.

Overall, the residential was a valuable and enriching experience that supported students’ personal development, confidence, and sense of community. It was a pleasure to see Year 7 engage so positively and they should be commended for the way they represented the school.
