To reach the final, each team have played a series of matches in the Warwickshire league, with group rounds and then a semi final to win their place in the final. It was an exciting evening of netball, played in glorious sunshine.

An audience of over 300 people enjoyed a diverse and engaging programme, featuring performers from Year 7 to Year 11. The evening celebrated the hard work of Dance Club members, Dance Leaders, and students studying Dance as part of their curriculum.

A wide range of styles was performed, including Contemporary, Commercial, Jazz and Tap. The programme included BTEC assessment pieces, extracurricular routines and students’ own choreography, highlighting the creativity and commitment of all involved

During the day, students explored how domestic electrical energy is supplied, from generation through to delivery in the home gaining insight into the journey from production to delivery.

Acting as engineers, working collaboratively in teams, they created prototypes of renewable technologies such as wind turbines, water turbines, or solar panels, and planned how electricity would be transmitted from the source to homes.

Teams also considered the overall costs of their designs and presented their solutions to others showcasing their ideas and problem-solving approaches.

Students were invited to bring in ‘Red Nose Day’ themed cakes which were then available to buy at break time for 50p each.

This year, NLS truly stepped into the world of literature, following the English Department down the Yellow Brick Road, while other departments brought a range of beloved stories to life. 

Science ventured into the arena as The Hunger Games tributes, Reception and IEN stepped into the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland, and Maths set sail with the pirates of Treasure Island.

We were also delighted to spot The Cat in the Hat roaming  Drama’s rendition of Where’s Wally, and the appearance of Bill and Ben the Flowerpot Men from the PE department joining the adventure.

The many MPs at the event were very impressed with the work we are all doing. Uma Kumaran, the MP hosting the event, commented in her key note speech that this work brings hope in an uncertain and turbulent world.

The International School award is a prestigious accreditation and benchmarking scheme recognising schools that embed a global dimension into their curriculum, fostering cultural understanding and international awareness. As part of this we work with our partner school in India and our curriculum-based work helps to prepare students as global citizens.

During the day, students explored the evolution of communication before diving into cryptology, where they tackled a code-cracking challenge using a themed newspaper, The Technology Times. They then put their engineering and programming skills to the test by designing, building, and coding a LEGO dial-lock safe, learning how digital security systems work in real life.

The day concluded with students working in teams to create and pitch their own cybersecurity company, demonstrating creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, and digital literacy.

It was a fantastic experience that gave students a real insight into future careers in technology and cybersecurity and we are proud of the enthusiasm, focus, and innovation they showed throughout the day.

In small groups, students were able to ask a range of questions to our guests to learn about the opportunities that are available and gain further insight into what their next steps post Year 11 could be.  Students received a booklet beforehand to record the information that they were able to find out at the event and will be using this to update their careers journey on Grofar our careers platform.

This was a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with representatives from a wide selection of companies and a range of universities and local colleges.

We are very grateful to all those who supported our event and the feedback from our students showed they really enjoyed the event which will help them in making informed decisions going forward in relation to their post-16 career journey.

It was lovely to see and see so many students and staff embracing the festive spirit and fantastic to see such great participation from our students.

Donations of £1 have raised £579 so far.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, at any level, is not easy. It takes effort, determination, and the resilience to overcome obstacles. The Award epitomises our CORE values: Commitment, Opportunity, Respect and Excellence. To have so many students completing their awards this year is truly fantastic. We also recognised and thanked the NLS staff who have supported with training, route-planning and the many weekends they dedicated to the expeditions.

The event was an opportunity for us to provide all Year 11 students with the valuable experience of taking part in an interview and for them to receive personalised feedback from it as part of our careers education programme to support them as they prepare for the world beyond school.

During the interview, students were also able to receive feedback on the CV they had produced during previous Tutor Time sessions.

It would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of our Fair Trade Leaders, whose enthusiasm and example have inspired the whole school to get involved. Through class projects, assemblies, and whole-school initiatives, we have deepened our knowledge of Fairtrade and taken meaningful steps toward creating a fairer, more sustainable future. We look forward to building on this achievement and continuing our journey as a Fairtrade-aware school.

With over 70 students taking part it was fantastic to see every year group represented during the concert, creating a sense of unity and celebration of the hard work and dedication of our young musicians.

The programme featured a rich mix of genres including those students have studied in lessons such as Rock and Roll Music, classical music pieces such as Debussy’s Arabesque performed by Amelie on the piano and two stunning  solos,  I Dreamed a Dream from Emily and Once upon a December  from Clea.

The concert also included several band items with some classic pop pieces such as Don’t Look Back In Anger and Supersonic by Oasis.

Our Sixth Form Music students closed the show this year with wonderful renditions of Somebody To Love by Queen and a festive favourite Merry Christmas Everyone by Shakin’ Stevens.

The music department are extremely proud of all our talented young musicians involved with extra-curricular music at NLS.

Thank you to all those parent/carers who attended and supported the event.

Head Teacher Mr Lowdell, opened the ceremony with an address to the school followed by a Remembrance poem read by Senior Student Leaders, Jimmy and Amelia. The Last Post and Reveille were played before the whole school observed a two-minute silence whereby our cadet students then laid a wreath at our memorial.
