Y9 Options- Mathematics

All students will take GCSE Mathematics.

What Will I Study?

Students will build upon skills and knowledge from KS3.

Topics covered include:

Number

Algebra

Ratio & Proportion

Geometry

Statistics

Students will need to be equipped for lessons and bring a scientific calculator, ruler, compass and protractor to all lessons.

 

What Skills Will I Develop?

Think mathematically - ability to apply their Maths knowledge to a range of contexts

Independence

Problem solving – make logical first steps

Analyse and interpret data

Accuracy

 

How will I be Assessed?

Students will sit the Higher or the Foundation paper. For both tiers there are 3 exams at the end of Year 11.

Each exam is 1hour and 30 minutes long.

Paper 1 is non-calculator

In papers 2 and 3 calculators are allowed.
